To a stirred suspension of imidazo[1 ,2-a]pyridine-6-carboxylic acid (1 g, 6.2 mmol) in dioxane (12 ml) the title compound of Preparation 1 (0.91 g, 6.2 mmol) was added. To the suspension thus obtained POCI3 (1.73 ml, 18.6 mmol) was added dropwise at room temperature. The mixture was stirred at 70C for 3h under inert atmosphere. It was poured onto a mixture of a 2M aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide (50 ml) and ice (50 ml).
