Herein we report the mild and efficient synthesis of 4-phenoxyquinazoline, 2-phenoxyquinoxaline, and 2-phenoxypyridine derivatives from the starting materials viz. quinazolin-4(3H)-one, quinoxalin-2(1H)-one, and pyridin-2(1H)-one and aryne generated in situ from 2-(trimethylsilyl)phenyl trifluoromethanesulfonate and cesium fluoride. This synthetic methodology gives a new environmentally benign way for the preparation of several unnatural series of 4-phenoxyquinazoline, 2-phenoxyquinoxaline and 2-phenoxypyridine compounds with high yields and broad substrate scope.

Selective and rapid removal of Mo(VI) from water using functionalized Fe3O4-based Mo(VI) ion-imprinted polymer

Fe3O4 nanoparticles-based magnetic Mo(VI) surface ion-imprinted polymer (Mo(VI)-MIIP) was elaborated employing 4-vinyl pyridine as a functional monomer. The adsorbent preparation was confirmed by Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive X-ray spectrometry, X-ray diffraction, vibrating sample magnetometer, thermogravimetric analysis, and surface area analysis. Batch adsorption experiments showed that the maximum adsorption capacity of Mo(VI)-MIIP was 296.40 mg g(-1) at pH 3, while that of the magnetic non-imprinted polymer (MNIP) was only 147.10 mg g(-1). The adsorption isotherm model was well fitted by the Langmuir isotherm model. The adsorption experiments revealed that Mo(VI)-MIIP reached adsorption equilibrium within 30 min, and the kinetics data fitting showed that the pseudo-second-order kinetics model suitably described the adsorption process. Mo(VI)-MIIP exhibited an excellent adsorption selectivity to Mo(VI) in binary mixtures of Mo(VI)/Cr(VI), Mo(VI)/Cu(II), Mo(VI)/H(2)PO4(4)(-), Mo(VI)/Zn(II), and Mo(VI)/I-, with relative selectivity coefficients toward MNIP of 13.71, 30.27, 20.01, 23.53, and 15.89, respectively. After six consecutive adsorption-desorption cycles, the adsorption capacity of Mo(VI)-MIIP decreased by 9.5% (from 228.4 mg g(-1) to 206.7 mg g(-1) at initial Mo(VI) concentration of 250 mg L-1), demonstrating its reusability.

The reaction of a pyridine solution of K4Ge9 with 18-crown-6 first leads to the formation of green needles of yet unknown composition, which convert into the reported tetramer over time. In this reaction pyridine acts as oxidation reagent. Raman studies on the green needles as well as on tetrameric and polymeric Ge-9 feature complex vibrational patterns. Furthermore, we present the crystal structure of a new type of Ge-9 dimer in the compound K-4[K(2.2.2-crypt)](2)[Ge-9-Ge-9] . 4 en . 2 thf, which represents an intermediate between the two established conformers.

Effective photodegradation of organic pollutantsin the presence of mono and bi-metallic complexes under visible-light irradiation

The synthesis of new mono and bi-metallic complexes such as Zn (II) and Ag-Zn (II) complexes with organic functional group-based ligand (OFL) presented in the current work along with the exploration of their applicability in the photocatalytic degradation of organic dyes under visible-light irradiation. The Zn (II) complex obtained from organic functional group-based ligands, complexed with the donor atoms such as S and N under solvothermal conditions and Ag-Zn (II) complex formed through Ag ions complexed with pyridine ring nitrogen atom. These Zn(II)-complexes were systematically analyzed using the physicochemical studies and other spectroscopic techniques. From these facts, it is clarified that the complexes show square planar geometry with organic functional group-based ligands coordination via mercapto and azomethine groups. The reported complexes were used for the photodegradation of standard organic dye pollutants used in various textile and food processing industries. The complex [Ag-Zn(DCMPPT)(H2O)(OAc)] shows higher photocatalytic activity than [Zn (DCMPPT)(H2O)] because of the high surface area, low bandgap energy and further visible-light available for the initiation of (OH)-O-center dot radicals. To identify the active species in the photocatalytic process, the mechanism process also reported for the fast photodegradation of organic dye pollutants in the existence of some radical quenchers.

Design, Synthesis, Characterization and Application of BNPs@SiO2(CH2)(3)NH-CC-AMP-Pd (0) as a New Reusable Nano-Catalyst for Suzuki and Heck Cross-Coupling Reactions

A simple and effective method was used for the successful preparation of the Boehmite@(CH2)(3)NH-CC-AMP-Pd (0) NPs as an environmentally friendly heterogeneous nano-catalyst. The synthesized nano-catalyst was well identified by different techniques like FT-IR, XRD, XPS, TEM, SEM, EDX, TGA, mapping, and ICP analysis. The BNPs@SiO2(CH2)(3)NH-CC-AMP-Pd was used as a recoverable nano-catalyst for Suzuki-Miyaura and Mizoroki-Heck coupling reactions under mild, green and sustainable conditions with excellent yields (H2O, EtOH as solvent for Suzuki reaction and solvent-free conditions for Heck reaction). Also, the distribution of palladium on the catalyst surface is uniform and the average palladium size is between 20 and 30 nm. Compared to similar works, this protocol has some of the important aspects such as: thermal and mechanical stability of the catalyst, low palladium leaching (9.7%), the simplicity of the preparation, the availability of raw materials, not expensive, no need for neutral atmosphere, appropriate times, green conditions, use low amount of catalyst (1.42 mol%) and reused catalyst for several consecutive times (at least seven times). In the current study, by employing 5-((4-carboxypyridin-2-yl)amino)isophthalic acid (H3L), a semirigid carboxylate-pyridine ligand with V-shape, two new transition metal coordination polymers with the chemical formulae of [Cu-1.5(L)(H2O)]center dot 2H(2)O (1) and [Co-4(L)(2)(CH3CN)(OH)(2)(H-2-O)(4)]center dot 3H(2)O(2) have been successfully prepared through the reaction between the H 3 L ligand and corresponding metal salts under the solvothermal reaction conditions. Magnetic investigations have suggested that there is antiferromagnetic coupling between neighboring metal ions in the two compounds. The application values of compounds 1 and 2 on the non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) was evaluated and the related mechanism was discussed at the same time. First of all, the Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK-8) detection kit was performed to measure the viability of the non-small cell lung cancer cells after compound treatment. A nickel pyridine-selenolate complex for the photocatalytic evolution of hydrogen from aqueous solutions

Febuxostat Inhibits MPP plus -Induced Inflammatory Response Through Inhibiting the JNK/NF-kappa B Pathway in Astrocytes

Parkinson’s disease (PD) is a severe neurodegenerative disease lacking effective clinical therapies. It is reported that astrocyte-associated neuroinflammation and oxidative stress are involved in the pathological mechanism of PD. In the present study, we aimed to investigate the protective effect of febuxostat against 1 methyl 4 phenyl pyridine (MPP+)-induced injury on primary astrocytes to highlight the potential therapeutic property of febuxostat in PD. MPP+ was used to induce an in vitro PD model in primary rat astrocytes. The levels of ROS and intracellularly reduced GSH were determined using DCFH-DA assay and a commercial GSH kit, respectively. MTT and LDH release assays were utilized to evaluate the cell viability of astrocytes. The expressions of IL-8, IL-1 beta, TNF-alpha, MMP-2, and MMP-9 in the astrocytes were detected using qRT-PCR and ELISA assays. QRT-PCR and Western blot analysis were used to determine the expression levels of GFAP in astrocytes. The expression of p-JNK and nuclear levels of NF-kappa B p65 were evaluated using Western blot analysis. The transcriptional activity of NF-kappa B was measured using the luciferase activity assay. Firstly, the elevated levels of ROS and decreased levels of intracellularly reduced GSH in primary astrocytes induced by MPP+ were significantly ameliorated by febuxostat. Secondly, treatment with febuxostat rescued MPP+-induced reduction in cell viability and increased LDH release. Thirdly, febuxostat alleviated MPP+-induced inflammatory responses in astrocytes by reducing the expressions of IL-8, IL-1 beta, TNF-alpha, GFAP, MMP-2, and MMP-9. Importantly, we found that febuxostat mitigated activation of the JNK/NF-kappa B signaling pathway by inhibiting the phosphorylation of JNK and nuclear translocation of NF-kappa B p65. Febuxostat attenuated MPP+-induced inflammatory response by suppressing the JNK/NF-kappa B signaling pathway in astrocytes.

Investigation of the effect of microwave heated reactor on ethane dehydrogenation over KIT-6 supported catalysts

Non-oxidative conversion of ethane to hydrogen and ethylene was carried out with Cr and Co-based KIT-6 supported catalysts in a conventional heated reactor (C-HRS) and microwave heated reactor (M-HRS) systems. The catalysts were synthesized by wet impregnation of hydrothermally prepared KIT-6 support. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and N-2 adsorption-desorption studies showed that the well-ordered three-dimensional mesoporous structure of the KIT-6 support was preserved after 10wt% metal loading. The pyridine adsorbed diffuse reflectance FT-IR (DRIFT) spectroscopy results revealed the presence of Lewis acid sites on the catalysts. The incorporation of Co into the structure slightly increased the Lewis acid sites. The Cr@KIT-6 catalyst exhibited the highest ethylene and hydrogen selectivity with a C2H4/H-2 ratio of 1.00 at 650 degrees C in C-HRS. To compare the effect of active metal on the catalytic activity, Co@KIT-6 catalyst was tested at 650 degrees C in C-HRS. Although, the ethane conversion values of Cr and Co-based catalysts were similar, Co@KIT-6 catalyst exhibited lower C2H4/H-2 ratio (0.51). The characterization studies of the spent catalysts confirmed higher amount of coke deposited on the Co@KIT-6 catalyst. The effect of microwave-assisted heating on the catalytic activity was investigated with Cr and Co-based catalysts at 450 degrees C in M-HRS. It was determined that much higher ethane conversion and yield values were obtained even at lower temperatures in M-HRS compared to the C-HRS. While the H-2 yield was 0.15 at 650 degrees C in C-HRS, this value increased to 0.37 at 450 degrees C in M-HRS. [GRAPHICS]
