(2,3-Dichloropyridin-4-yl)methanol (0355) A mixture of 2,3-dichloroisonicotinic acid (19.2 g, 10 mmol) in BH3/THF (1 M, 300 mL) was stirred at 60 C. for 3 h. After cooling to RT, MeOH (100 mL) was slowly added, then the reaction mixture was concentrated and diluted with H2O (100 mL) and extracted with EtOAc (200 mL×3). The organic layer was separated and washed with brine, dried over Na2SO4, filtered and concentrated under reduced pressure to give the crude title compound (15.4 g, yield 87%) as a yellow solid which was used directly without further purification.
