Example 406-TERT-BUTYL-N-((1R)-1-{4-METHYL-5-[(METHYLSULFONYL)AMINO]PYRIDIN-2-YL}ETHYL)-2-NAPHTHAMIDE 40A) N-(6-CHLORO-4-METHYLPYRIDIN-3-YL)METHANESULFONAMIDE A mixture of 3-amino-6-chloro-4-picoline (2.0 g, 14.0 mmol) and methanesulfonyl chloride (1.93 g, 16.8 mmol) in pyridine (140 ml) was stirred for 2 hours at room temperature. The resulting mixture was quenched with 2 M HCl aqueous solution and diluted with EtOAc. The separated organic phase was washed with 2 M HCl aqueous solution, dried over magnesium sulfate, concentrated to give crude. It was diluted with EtOAc and extracted with 2 M sodium hydroxide aqueous solution.
