After completion of the reaction, the reaction mixture was poured into water (150 mL), and the resulting mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate (100 mL×2). The organic phases were combined, washed with saturated brine (100 mL), dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate, filtered, and concentrated to give Compound 40b (2.91 g). 1H NMR (400MHz, CDCl3) delta8.66 (s, 1H), 7.43 (s, 1H), 2.57 (s, 3H).
