A chemoselective sequential one-pot coupling protocol was developed for preparing several amino-anilines in high yield as building blocks for active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs). Site (Cl vs Br on electrophile) and nucleophile (amine vs imine) selectivity is dictated by the catalyst employed.
