To a solution of 40% METHYLAMINE in water (60 mL) was added 2-fluoro-3-iodo- pyridine (2.0 g, 8.97 MMOL), and the reaction mixture was refluxed under argon for 4 h. H-NMR (ACETONE-D6) 8 8.06 (dd, J = 4.8, 1. 5 Hz, 1H), 7.89 (dd, J = 7. 2, 1. 8 Hz, 1H), 6.34 (m, 1 H), 5.60 (broad, s, 1H), 2.94 (d, J = 4.5 Hz, 3H); Rf = 0.68 (30% ethyl acetate-hexane).
