The mixture was partitioned between ethyl acetate and saturated aqueous ammonium chloride solution. The organic phase was washed with brine, dried over MgSO4 then evaporated to dryness. The residue was taken up with 4N solution of HCl in dioxane (5.5 mL) and the resulting mixture was stirred at room temperature for 2 h. The reaction was concentrated under reduced pressure and the residue was triturated with diethyl ether to provide the title compound (394 mg, 78%) as an off-white solid. 1H NMR (400 MHz, DMSO): delta 9.07 (d, J=2.0 Hz, 1H), 8.33 (dd, J=2.0, 8.0 Hz, 1H), 7.59 (d, J=8.4 Hz, 1H), 7.14-7.10 (m, 2H), 6.74-6.70 (m, 3H), 4.54 (s, 2H), 3.88 (s, 3H), NH not observed.
