Adding a certain compound to certain chemical reactions, such as: 82205-58-1, 1-(5-Nitropyridin-2-yl)piperazine, can increase the reaction rate and produce products with better performance than those obtained under traditional synthetic methods. To a stirred solution of 5-nitro-2-piperazinyl-pyridine (10.1 g) and potassium carbonate (20.29 g) in acetone (500 mL) was added portionwise 3-cyano-benzyl bromide (9.6 g) and the mixture was heated under reflux during 2 hours. The salts were removed by filtration, washed with acetone and the filtrate was evaporated to dryness. The residue was taken in CH2Cl2, and the solution washed with water, dried over Na2SO4, filtered and evaporated under reduced pressure to leave an oil which crystallized by trituration with diisopropyl oxyde. The title compound was obtained as a yellow solid (14.4 g). [0245] m.p.: 103-105 C.
