Purification by flash chromatography (silica, gradient 0- 20%, ethyl acetate/hexanes) afforded 2-(5-isopropylpyridin-2-yl)-6-methoxyisoindolin-l-one (0.023 g, 9%) as an off-white solid: m.p. 109-110 0C; 1H NMR (500 MHz, CDCl3) delta 8.56 (d, J= 8.6 Hz, IH), 8.25 (d, J= 2.4 Hz, IH ), 7.64 (dd, J= 8.6, 2.4 Hz, IH), 7.43-7.39 (m, 2H), 7.17 (dd, J= 8.3, 2.4 Hz, IH), 5.03 (s, 2H), 3.89 (s, 3H), 2.97-2.92 (m, IH), 1.29 (d, J= 7.0 Hz, 6H); ESI MS m/z 283 [M+ H]+.
