To a solution of compound 2 (28.7 g. 0.2 mol) in DMF (50 mL) was added NBS (35.5 g, 0.2 mol). The mixture was heated at 90C for 8 hours. The crude compound 3 was collected by filtration. (22 g, 50% yield).
