To a solution of 3-amino-2-methoxyisonicotinic acid (5.0 g, 29.7 mmol, Ark Pharm, Inc. – AK-39940) in dichloromethane (45 mL) and methanol (5 mL) at 0C was added trimethylsilyldiazomethane as 2.0M solution in hexanes (44.6 mL, 89.2 mmol) .
