The reaction mixture was concentrated onto Celite, then purified by flash chomatography utilizing a 40g ISCO column and eluting with 0-90% EtOAc in hexanes. The pure fractions were concentrated to afford ethyl 6-methyl-5-(4,4,5,5-tetramethyl-1,3,2-dioxaborolan-2-yl)nicotinate (490 mg, 1.599 mmol, 65.0 % yield) as a waxy white solid.
