Garcia-Cuellar, Claudia Maria; Hernandez-Delgadillo, Rene; Solis-Soto, Juan Manuel; Meester, Irene; Sanchez-Perez, Yesennia; Nakagoshi-Cepeda, Sergio Eduardo; Nakagoshi-Cepeda, Maria Argelia Akemi; Chellam, Shankararaman; Cabral-Romero, Claudio published the artcile< Cetylpyridinium chloride inhibits human breast tumor cells growth in a no-selective way>, Synthetic Route of 123-03-5, the main research area is breast tumor cell growth cetylpyridinium chloride anticancer; Antitumor activity; LD50 assay; cetylpyridinium chloride; chemotherapy; human breast cancer; quaternary ammonium salts.

Objective: Analyze the antitumor capacity of cetylpyridinium chloride (CPC) on human breast tumor cells, and the possible action mechanism. Material and methods: The human breast tumor cells MCF-7 and no-tumor breast cells MCF-10A were exposed to CPC under various condition (concentration and duration). Cell viability was measured with MTT assay, the LIVE/DEAD assay, and fluorescence microscopy. Membrane permeability after CPC exposure was evaluated by Calcein AM assay, mitochondrial morphol. with a MitoView staining, and genotoxicity with the comet assay and fluorescence microscopy. Results: CPC was cytotoxic to both MCF-7 and MCF-10A as of a 24-h exposure to 0.1μM. Cytotoxicity was dosedependent and reached 91for MCF-7 and 78for MCF-10A after a 24-h exposure to 100μM CPC, which outperformed the pos. control doxorubicin in effectiveness and selectivity. The LD50 of CPC on was 6μM for MCF-7 and 8μM for MCF-10A, yielding a selectivity index of 1.41. With respect to the action mechanisms, the comet assay did not reveal genome fragmentation. On the other hand, membrane damage was dose-dependent and may also affect mitochondrial morphol. Conclusion: Cetylpyridinium chloride inhibits MCF-7 cell growing in a non-selective way as of 5min of exposure. The action mechanism of CPC on tumor cells involves cell membrane damage without change neither mitochondrial morphol. nor genotoxicity.

Abstract: We propose and demonstrate an on-chip optofluidic device allowing active oscillatory microrheol. measurements with sub-μL sample volume, low cost and high flexibility. Thanks to the use of this optofluidic microrheometer it is possible to measure the viscoelastic properties of complex fluids in the frequency range 0.01-10 Hz at different temperatures The system is based on the optical forces exerted on a microbead by two counterpropagating IR laser beams. The core elements of the optical part, integrated waveguides and an optical modulator, are fabricated by fs-laser writing on a glass substrate. The system performance is validated by measuring viscoelastic solutions of aqueous worm-like micelles composed by Cetylpyridinium Chloride (CPyCl) and Sodium Salicylate (NaSal).

Hamon, J J’s team published research in Journal of Colloid and Interface Science in 2020-11-01 | 123-03-5

Journal of Colloid and Interface Science published new progress about Electron beam lithography. 123-03-5 belongs to class pyridine-derivatives, and the molecular formula is C21H38ClN, SDS of cas: 123-03-5.

Hamon, J. J.; Tabor, Rico F.; Striolo, Alberto; Grady, Brian P. published the artcile< Directly probing surfactant adsorption on nanoscopic trenches and pillars>, SDS of cas: 123-03-5, the main research area is surfactant adsorption silica nanostructure; Adsorption; Atomic force microscopy; Cationic surfactant; Cetylpyridinium chloride; Force curves; Silica; Surfactant; Tetradecyltrimethylammonium bromide.

Confinement causes a change in the amount of surfactant adsorbed and in the adsorption morphol. Two cationic surfactants, tetradecyltrimethylammonium bromide (TTAB) and cetylpyridinium chloride (CPC) were adsorbed at the silica-water interface. Atomic force microscopy (AFM) force curves were measured on 50 nm and 80 nm wide trenches. Force curves were also measured on silica pillars, and the results were quantified based on distance from the edge. Trenches: Adsorbed surfactants films in 50 nm and 80 nm trenches showed the same break-through values. However, compared to unconfined values, TTAB in trenches had decreased break-through and adhesion forces while CPC in trenches had increased break-through and adhesion forces, indicating that surfactant identity varies the confinement effect. Pillars: Near the edge, few surfactants adsorb, and those that do extend in the direction normal to the surface. While the exptl. data agree qual. with previous coarse-grained mol. dynamic simulations, the length scales at which the phenomena are detected differ by ∼ half-order of magnitude. Specifically, exptl. data show measurable effects on adsorbed surfactant morphol. at a distance from the edge 10-20 times the length of a surfactant mol. after accounting for the ∼8 nm size of the probe.

Cetylpyridinium tetrachlorozincate (referred to herein as (CP)2ZnCl4) was synthesized and its solid-state structure was elucidated via single-crystal X-ray diffraction (SC-XRD), revealing a stoichiometry of C42H76Cl4N2Zn with two cetylpyridinium (CP) cations per [ZnCl4]2- tetrahedra. Crystal structures at 100 and 298 K exhibited a zig-zag pattern with alternating alkyl chains and zinc units. The material showed potential for application as a broad-spectrum antimicrobial agent, to reduce volatile sulfur compounds (VSCs) generated by bacteria, and in the fabrication of advanced functional materials. Min. inhibitory concentration (MIC) of (CP)2ZnCl4 was 60, 6, and 6μg mL-1 for Salmonella enterica, Staphylococcus aureus, and Streptococcus mutans, resp. The MIC values of (CP)2ZnCl4 were comparable to that of pure cetylpyridinium chloride (CPC), despite the fact that approx. 16% of the bactericidal CPC is replaced with bacteriostatic ZnCl2 in the structure. A modified layer-by-layer deposition technique was implemented to synthesize mesoporous silica (i.e., SBA-15) loaded with approx. 9.0 weight % CPC and 8.9 weight % Zn.

Xu, Linan’s team published research in Journal of Materials Science in 2019-09-30 | 123-03-5

Journal of Materials Science published new progress about Crosslinking. 123-03-5 belongs to class pyridine-derivatives, and the molecular formula is C21H38ClN, HPLC of Formula: 123-03-5.

Xu, Linan; Feng, Lili; Li, Xin; An, Qi published the artcile< Stable polymer/inorganic composite multilayers using covalent cross-linking assisted by a magnetic field>, HPLC of Formula: 123-03-5, the main research area is polymer composite multilayer covalent crosslinking magnetic field.

In this study, stable composite multilayers incorporating magnetic montmorillonite (MMT) and weak polyelectrolyte were prepared under the assistance of a magnetic field. We reported a facile method for fabrication of covalently crosslinked Layer-by-Layer (LbL) multilayers using a photosensitive crosslinking agent 4,4′-diazostilbene-2,2′-disulfonic acid disodium salt that carried double azido groups. The multilayers after crosslinking presented improved stability against extreme solution conditions (basic solution pH = 14), and over 78.15% of magnetic MMT remained on the substrate, in clear contrast with the non-crosslinked multilayers, for which less than 8% of the magnetic MMT remained. The results of UV-Vis spectroscopy and SEM measurements supported the improvement in the stability of the multilayers. Moreover, the assistance of the external magnetic field improved the LbL assembly efficiency and the crosslinking step achieved the mol. retarded release. When gauze was used as the substrate, the mass loading under the magnetic field was approx. 0.976 mg/cm2, which was 4.2 times the amount deposited on gauze without an external magnetic field. After interfacial modification of gauze using LbL multilayers, the static contact angle transformed from hydrophobic (111.25°) to perfect hydrophilic. When we employed aspirin as the target drug, it took 23 h for the crosslinked multilayers to achieve saturated release, as opposed to 9 h for the non-crosslinked multilayers.

Haward, Simon J.; Hopkins, Cameron C.; Shen, Amy Q. published the artcile< Stagnation points control chaotic fluctuations in viscoelastic porous media flow>, Safety of 1-Hexadecylpyridin-1-ium chloride, the main research area is viscoelastic porous media flow; elastic turbulence; porous media; stagnation point; viscoelastic fluid.

Viscoelastic flows through porous media become unstable and chaotic beyond critical flow conditions, impacting widespread industrial and biol. processes such as enhanced oil recovery and drug delivery. Understanding the influence of the pore structure or geometry on the onset of flow instability can lead to fundamental insights into these processes and, potentially, to their optimization. Recently, for viscoelastic flows through porous media modeled by arrays of microscopic posts, Walkama et al. [D. M. Walkama, N. Waisbord, J. S. Guasto, Phys. Rev. Lett. 124, 164501 (2020)] demonstrated that geometric disorder greatly suppressed the strength of the chaotic fluctuations that arose as the flow rate was increased. However, in that work, disorder was only applied to one originally ordered configuration of posts. Here, we demonstrate exptl. that, given a slightly modified ordered array of posts, introducing disorder can also promote chaotic fluctuations. We provide a unifying explanation for these contrasting results by considering the effect of disorder on the occurrence of stagnation points exposed to the flow field, which depends on the nature of the originally ordered post array. This work provides a general understanding of how pore geometry affects the stability of viscoelastic porous media flows.

Soft Matter published new progress about Chemical chains, wormlike. 123-03-5 belongs to class pyridine-derivatives, and the molecular formula is C21H38ClN, COA of Formula: C21H38ClN.

Rassolov, Peter; Scigliani, Alfredo; Mohammadigoushki, Hadi published the artcile< Kinetics of shear banding flow formation in linear and branched wormlike micelles>, COA of Formula: C21H38ClN, the main research area is kinetics shear banding flow formation wormlike micelle.

We investigate the flow evolution of a linear and a branched wormlike micellar solution with matched rheol. in a Taylor-Couette (TC) cell using a combination of particle-tracking velocimetry, birefringence, and turbidity measurements. Both solutions exhibit a stress plateau within a range of shear rates. Under startup of a steady shear rate flow within the stress plateau, both linear and branched samples exhibit strong transient shear thinning flow profiles. However, while the flow of the linear solution evolves to a banded structure at longer times, the flow of the branched solution transitions to a curved velocity profile with no evidence of shear banding. Flow-induced birefringence measurements indicate transient birefringence banding with strong micellar alignment in the high shear band for the linear solution The transient flow-induced birefringence is stronger for the branched system at an otherwise identical Wi. At longer times, the birefringence bands are replaced by a chaotic flow reminiscent of elastic instabilities. Visualization of the flow-induced turbidity in the velocity gradient-vorticity plane reveals quasi-steady banding with a turbidity contrast between high and low shear bands in the linear solution However, the turbidity evolves uniformly within the gap of the TC cell for the branched solution, corroborating the non-banded quasi-steady velocimetry results. Finally, we show that while elastic instabilities in the linear solution emerge in the high shear band, the flow of branched solution at high Wi becomes unstable due to end effects, with growing end regions that ultimately span the entire axial length of the TC cell.

Zhang, Lei; Morey, Amit; Bilgili, Sacit F.; McKee, Shelly R.; Garner, Laura J. published the artcile< Effectiveness of several antimicrobials and the effect of contact time in reducing Salmonella and Campylobacter on poultry drumsticks>, Quality Control of 123-03-5, the main research area is poultry drumstick Salmonella Campylobacter antimicrobial effect contact time.

Salmonella and Campylobacter are the two pathogens commonly associated with raw poultry meat, as poultry products are frequent vehicles of these bacteria. The objective of the current research was to determine the optimal contact time for 6 antimicrobial treatments, including water, 0.003% chlorine, 0.07% peracetic acid (PAA), 0.1% PAA, 0.35% cetylpyridinium chloride (CPC), and 0.6% CPC. Drumsticks (n = 192) were inoculated with Salmonella Typhimurium and Campylobacter jejuni, and allowing some bacterial attachment time, drumsticks were treated with the 6 antimicrobials mentioned above for 10, 20, and 30 s contact time. The recoveries of Salmonella Typhimurium and Campylobacter jejuni were determined after plating. The results of this study indicated the antimicrobial effect on reducing Salmonella and Campylobacter on poultry parts, and the impact of contact time on the efficacy. This could be a guide for industrial application of which antimicrobial to use and how to control the contact time.
