The mixture was stirred at 40 C. for 16 h. The resulting solid was filtered and washed with toluene and ether to afford a brown solid. The solid was added to ethanol (40 ml) and concentrated HCl (15 ml) and the mixture was stirred at room temperature for 20 h. Concentrate the mixture to afford, 2-amino-1-(6-chloropyridin-3-yl)ethanone hydrochloride as an orange solid (2.00 g, 99%): ESI-LRMS m/e calcd for C7H7ClN2O HCl [M+] 170, found 171 [M+H+] (free base)
