3-(trifluoromethyl)pyridin-2-amine (0.15 g, 0.92 mmol) was added to a mixture of sodium hydride (0.14 g, 5.5 mmol) and N,N-dimethylformamide (3.0 ml_) under nitrogen gas at 15 – 20 C and the reaction mixture was stirred for 15 – 20 min. Compound of example 65 (0.248 g, 1 .06 mmol) was added to the reaction mixture at 5 – 10 C and was stirred for 3 – 6 h. The reaction mixture was cooled to 10 C and methanol (0.5 ml_) was added slowly. A solution of chilled 20 % ammonium chloride solution (4.5 ml_) was added drop-wise to the reaction mixture at 10 C and was stirred for 25 – 30 min. The product was extracted in ethyl acetate (12 ml_) and the organic layer was dried over anhydrous sodium sulphate. The solvent was evaporated to obtain the crude product, which was further purified by column chromatography to obtain the title compound. Yield: 0.07 g (21 %); 1H NMR (300 MHz, DMSO-d6): delta 9.0 (s, 1 H), 8.74 (m, 2H), 8.36 (d, 1 H), 7.80 (s, 1 H), 7.61 (m, 2H), 7.42 (m, 1 H), 7.10 (d, 1 H), 6.1 (s, 2H); MS (ES+): 361 .4 (M+1 ).

To a stirred solution of R-10 (2.70 g, 16.66 mmol) in DMF (15 ml) is added N- bromosuccinimide (3.00 g, 16.85 mmol) as a DMF solution (15 ml, dropwise). After 4 h the reaction is poured onto ice. The resulting precipitate is collected via filtration to give the product as an off-white solid. Dissolved into DCM and washed with brine. The layers are separated and the organic phase is dried (MgS04), filtered and concentrated to give the title intermediate (3.8 g); m/z 241.2/243.2 [M/M+2H] .

To a solution of 5.37 g (32.8 mmol) of 3-trifluoromethyl-pyridin-2-ylamine (Fluorochem Ltd., Derbyshire, United Kingdom) in 100 ml of dry CH3CN, 6.45 g of NBS are added in 4 equal portions over a period of 1 h at 0-50C under argon. The cooling bath is removed and stirring is continued for 3 h. The solvent is evaporated under vacuum, the residue is dissolved in EtOAc and washed with water and brine. The organic phase is dried over Na2SO4 and evaporated. The title compound is a red-dish-yellow oil which is used after drying in the dark for 5 h at RT and under high vacuum in the next step without further purification.
