A new methodology for the highly efficient and atom-economic oxidation of alcohols and benzylic compounds to the corresponding aldehydes and ketones with environmental-friendly hydrogen peroxide using a magnetic MOF nanocatalyst has been developed. We demonstrated that the resulting magnetic nanocomposite CoFe2O4@SiO2@MIL-53(Fe) can show excellent catalytic performances in the highly selective oxidation at room temperature, based on a synergetic effect between iron sites and CoFe2O4@SiO2. The nanocatalyst offers simple operation for recovery and the recycling test showed that it could be reused for successive runs without significant degradation in catalytic activity.

This manuscript describes the design and synthesis of Ru catalysts that feature only a single stereogenic element, yet this minimal chirality resource is demonstrated to be competent for effecting high levels of stereoinduction in the asymmetric transfer hydrogenation over a broad range of ketone substrates, including those that are not accommodated by known catalyst systems. The single stereogenic center of the (1-pyridine-2-yl)methanamine) is the only point-chirality in the catalysts, which simplifies this catalyst system relative to existing literature protocols.

Structure-activity relationships for a series of small-molecule thiophenes resulted in potent and selective antagonism of human Complement C3a receptor. The compounds are about 100-fold more potent than the most reported antagonist SB290157. A new compound JR14a was among the most potent of the new antagonists in vitro, assessed by (a) inhibition of intracellular calcium release (IC50 10 nM) induced in human monocyte-derived macrophages by 100 nM C3a, (b) inhibition of beta-hexosaminidase secretion (IC50 8 nM) from human LAD2 mast cells degranulated by 100 nM C3a, and (c) selectivity for human C3aR over C5aR JR14a was metabolically stable in rat plasma and in rat liver microsomes and efficacious in rats when given orally to suppress rat paw inflammation, macrophage and mast cell activation, and histopathology induced by intraplantar paw administration of a C3aR agonist. Potent C3aR antagonists are now available for interrogating C3a receptor activation and suppressing C3aR-mediated inflammation in mammalian physiology and disease.

The electrochemical behavior of a series of the metal complexes [Fe(III), Ni(II), Ru(III),Pd(II) and Hf(IV)]derived from the Schiff base ligand(E)-5-((phenyl(-pyridin-2-yl) methylene) amino) pyrimidine-2,4(1H, 3H)-dione(H2L) which was previously prepared from condensation of 5-aminouracil and 2-benzoylpyridine was studied by using cyclic voltammetric technique. The Schiff base ligand H2L and its metal complexes exhibited quasi- reversible oxidation- reduction with three electron transfer and it was suggested that their reactions on the platinum surface electrode are not purely diffusion controlled but also under adsorption control. The redox reactive sites of the H2L and its complexes were located via the geometry optimization and frequency calculations using density functional theory (DFT) at the B3LYP/LanL2DZ level of theory. In addition, the Schiff base ligand and its metal complexes exhibit fluorescent properties. The antimicrobial activity of the Schiff base ligand H2L and its metal complexes was tested against Gram-positive bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus cereus(,Gram-negative bacteria (E. coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa) and fungal strain (Aspergillus niger) by using agar well-diffusion method. The microbial testes of the ligand (H2L) and its metal complexes exhibited good inhibition efficiency to prevent growth of bacteria. (c) 2020 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

The heterogeneous decarboxylative cyclization reaction between 2-benzoylpyridines and alpha-amino acids was achieved in toluene at 120 degrees C in the presence of 15 mol% of L-proline-functionalized MCM-41-supported copper(II) complex [L-Proline-MCM-41-Cu(OTf)(2)] and iodine with di-tert-butyl peroxide (DTBP) as oxidant, yielding a variety of 1,3-disubstituted imidazo[1,5-a]pyridines in good to excellent yields. The new supported copper catalyst can be prepared from commercially available and inexpensive reagents, and recovered from the reaction mixture by a simple filtration and recycled up to eight times with almost consistent activity. An efficient, reusable and stable binaphthyl stabilized Pd-nanoparticles (Pd-BNP) catalyzed the direct ortho-C-H hydroxylation of acetophenone oxime ethers under neutral and phosphine ligand-free condition has been developed. A readily available, economic, safe and greener oxidant oxone has been used in this direct ortho-hydroxylation. The scope of the reaction has been studied with various acetophenone oxime ethers including electron rich to electron deficient system and the reaction afforded only mono hydroxylated products in a highly regioselective manner. Several control experiment results confirmed that the oxone is the hydroxyl source. The Pd-BNP catalyst has been reused up to five times. The heterogeneous test confirmed that the reaction is catalyzed by the heterogeneous Pd-BNP catalyst.

An approach for the synthesis of quinolizinone with potential bioactivity has been developed via palladium-catalytic dearomative cyclocarbonylation of allyl alcohol. Diverse quinolizinone compounds could be attained with good efficiencies. A feasible reaction pathway could be a successive procedure of allylation, dearomatization, CO insertion and the Heck reaction.

In this study Guar gum based Cu(II) Schiff’s base complex (GG-Cu) has been synthesized and characterized by FTIR, PXRD, UV-vis, TGA, XPS, FESEM, TEM, EDAX, solid-state NMR, Elemental mapping, CHNS and AAS analysis. This moiety has been found to be an efficient heterogeneous catalyst for selective oxidation reactions. Fifteen model reactions have been carried to establish the catalytic behavior of GG-Cu, and five of these yield novel products. The ease of separation of catalyst from the reaction mixture simply by filtration is an added advantage; furthermore the catalyst can be reused up to five times without significant loss of catalytic activity. The overall concept of developing newer, efficient and environmental benign catalysts with ease of separation and recycling ability has been successfully demonstrated. All of the isolated products were fully characterized on the basis of their physical and spectral data.

Synthesis of 2,6-disubstituted pyridines from pyridotriazoles through palladium-catalyzed aerobic oxidative denitrogenative reactions has been described. Denitrogenation of arylated pyridotriazoles generates metal-carbene intermediates in situ and provides selectively 6-aryl-2-benzoylpyridines. The same conditions have been extended to regioselective C-3 and C-8 diarylation of several imidazo[1,2-a]pyridines.
