Afterwards, the reaction was left in a sealed tube at 1000C or in a flasked equipped with a cooling system for 5 hrs. The crude mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate and the extracts were combined, washed with water and dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate. The organic solvent was removed under high vacuum to yield the crude product. The crude product was purified by flash chromatography.
