For working up, the catalyst is filtered off and the filtrate is concentrated in vacuo. 11.1 g (100% of theory) of 2-methoxy-5-hydroxymethylpyridine are obtained as an oil which can be purified by distillation, of boiling point 85 C. to 88 C. at 0.6 mbar.
