A highly efficient and multifunctional white-emitting hydrogel was fabricated using a facile copolymerization process by introducing a hydrophilic terpyridine-based chromophore into a polyacrylamide network. White emission was obtained by a simple procedure for adjusting the concentration of the chromophore. The CIE 1931 chromaticity coordinates of white emission with 360 nm excitation were (0.349, 0.331). Exploiting the specific sensitivities of the terpyridyl group, the white emission was also highly sensitive to pH and metal ions. We envision this photoluminescent hydrogel as a versatile material for chem. and environmental sensing. 4′-(4-Pyridyl)-2,2′:6′,2”-terpyridine(cas: 112881-51-3) belongs to pyridine derivatives. Several pyridine derivatives play important roles in biological systems. While its biosynthesis is not fully understood, nicotinic acid (vitamin B3) occurs in some bacteria, fungi, and mammals. COA of Formula: C20H14N4
