After the reaction was complete, water was added, and the mixture was extracted with EA. The organic layer was washed with water, dried over Na2S04, filtered and concentrated. The resulting residue was purified by column chromatography (EA/PE = 1/1, v/v) to provide 3-iodo-lH-pyrrolo[3,2-c]pyridine-4-carbonitrile (160 mg, 97%).
