Paper-based polymeric ionic liquid (p-Poly-(MMA-IL)) was successfully developed by grafting the polymeric ionic liquid on the surface of com. filter paper by using dipping method, presenting a new cost-effective film. Under optimal conditions, the proposed method (p-Poly-(MMA-IL)-TFME) was evaluated and applied to analyze SAs in environmental water samples by using a high-performance liquid chromatog.-diode array detector (HPLC-DAD). The validation method showed that a good linearity (0.50 μg L-1 -500 μg L-1) was noted (R2 > 0.999, n = 3). The extensive pollution of antibiotics and antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) in drinking water has aroused worldwide concern. Successive monitoring of these pollutants has noteworthy significance for drinking water safety. Accordingly, this study conducted successive monitoring of antibiotics and ARGs from 2015 to 2017 in a drinking water source in East China. The total antibiotic concentration ranged from 19.68 ng/L to 497.00 ng/L, and decreased slightly from 2015 to 2017. Eighteen out of forty-one ARG subtypes showing resistance to six antibiotic classes and one class I integrase gene intI1, were detected in the drinking water source at concentrations ranging from 6.5 x 104 copies/mL to 1.6 x 106 copies/mL. Importantly, the total ARG concentration increased on an annual basis from 2015 to 2017 with an average annual increment of 0.25 orders of magnitude, which was mainly attributed to the increase in specific ARG subtypes, such as sul1, sul2, sul3, tetA, qnrB, and ermB. Most ARGs was pos. correlated with the intI1 genes (r = 0.47-0.55, P < 0.01). Furthermore, the variation of antibiotics and ARGs appeared to be related to the water indexes, particularly of the values of COD, BOD5, NO2-N (P < 0.05). This study provides basic data on antibiotic and ARG pollution in the studied drinking water source. Importantly, the findings expound that although the residual antibiotics in this drinking water source decreased slightly from 2015 to 2017, while its biol. effect, the antibiotic resistance, increased annually, which give a warning of the antibiotic resistance pollution in the drinking water source. As a class of synthetic sulfur drugs, sulfonamides (SAs) have been used to treat diseases and promote organism growth. Different concentrations of SAs have been detected in the water environment, which has threatened the ecol. environment. In this study, the contamination of 9 SAs in water, sediments, and 8 fish species from the Hangbu-Fengle River, China, were analyzed using UPLC-MS/MS. The total SA concentrations in surface water, sediments, and fish were ND-5.064 ng/L, ND-5.052 ng/g dry weight (d.w.), and ND-1.42 ng/g wet weight (w.w.), resp. The major compounds were sulfadiazine (SDZ), sulfamerazine (SMZ), and sulfamethoxazole (SMX) in water and fish. The SA levels of in fish from different habitat preferences revealed a spatial difference, with the order of demersal species > pelagic species. Moreover, the SA concentrations were affected by trophic guilds, indicating their decrease in the order of piscivorous fish > omnivorous fish > planktivorous fish > herbivorous fish. The obtained bioaccumulation factors showed that SMZ and SMX have strong bioenrichments in Ophiocephalus argus Cantor and Pelteobagrus fulvidraco. The risk assessment indicated that SAs did not pose significant health threats to the organisms. A novelty high-throughput semi-automatic sample clean-up method was developed and used for rapid anal. of 9 drug residues in fish muscle tissues combined with high-performance liquid chromatog./quadrupole-linear ion trap mass spectrometry (HPLC-QTRAP-MS/MS). The target compounds were extracted by Quick, Easy, Cheap, Effective, Rugged and Safe multiresidue (QuEChERS) method with acetonitrile. A vortex oscillating clean-up column was proposed for single step purification firstly. After centrifugation, 1 mL of acetonitrile layer was transferred into a 3 mL vortex oscillating clean-up column which packed with 150 mg C18 sorbent. The column was covered with piston, placed on a column-tube rack, vigorously agitated on a multi-tube vortex mixer. After vortex oscillation, purified extract was obtained for anal. by pushing the piston of oscillating clean-up column. The performance of the developed method was validated by analyzing 9 analytes in spiked grass carp muscle tissues. The limits of quantification (LOQs) ranged from 1.0 to 5.0 μg kg-1. The recoveries were in the range of 101-119% at the four concentration levels (2.0, 5.0, 10.0, 20.0 μg kg-1). Inter-day and intra-day relative standard deviations (RSDs) were lower than 16% for all analytes.
