The mixture was placed in a sealed tube and heated at 100 C. for 1 h, after which the mixture was cooled, quenched with water, and extracted with EtOAc. The organic phase was dried, concentrated, and purified by column chromatograph to give 5-Bromo-4-methyl-pyridine-2-carboxylic acid (2-hydroxy-ethyl)-amide (130 mg, 65%) as an off-white solid.
